Cookies In Use on This Site

Cookies and how they benefit You

Our website uses cookies, as almost all websites do, to help provide you with the best experience we can. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile phone when you browse websites

Our cookies help us:

  • Make our website work as you'd expect
  • Remember your settings during and between visits
  • Improve the speed/security of the site
  • Continuously improve our website for you
  • Make our marketing more efficient (ultimately helping us to offer the service we do at the price we do)

We do not use cookies to:

  • Collect any personally identifiable information (without your express permission)
  • Collect any sensitive information (without your express permission)
  • Pass data to advertising networks
  • Pass personally identifiable data to third parties
  • Pay sales commissions

You can learn more about all the cookies we use below

Granting us permission to use cookies

If the settings on your software that you are using to view this website (your browser) are adjusted to accept cookies we take this, and your continued use of our website, to mean that you are fine with this. Should you wish to remove or not use cookies from our site you can learn how to do this below, however doing so will likely mean that our site will not work as you would expect.

Website Function Cookies

Our own cookies

We use cookies to make our website work including:

  • Making our shopping basket and checkout work
  • Remembering if you have accepted our terms and conditions

There is no way to prevent these cookies being set other than to not use our site or change your browser settings (see below).

Third party functions

Our site, like most websites, includes functionality provided by third parties. A common example is an embedded YouTube video. Our site includes the following which use cookies:

Disabling these cookies will likely break the functions offered by these third parties

Anonymous Visitor Statistics Cookies

We use cookies to compile visitor statistics such as how many people have visited our website, what type of technology they are using (e.g. Mac or Windows which helps to identify when our site isn't working as it should for particular technologies), how long they spend on the site, what page they look at etc. This helps us to continuously improve our website. These so called ‘analytics’ programs also tell us if, on an anonymous basis, how people reached this site (e.g. from a search engine) and whether they have been here before helping us to put more money into developing our services for you instead of marketing spend.

We use: Google Analytics

Turning Cookies Off

You can usually switch cookies off by adjusting your browser settings to stop it from accepting cookies (Learn how here). Doing so however will likely limit the functionality of our's and a large proportion of the world's websites as cookies are a standard part of most modern websites

It may be that you concerns around cookies relate to so called "spyware". Rather than switching off cookies in your browser you may find that anti-spyware software achieves the same objective by automatically deleting cookies considered to be invasive.

The cookie information text on this site was derived from content provided by Attacat Internet Marketing http://www.attacat.co.uk/, a marketing agency based in Edinburgh. If you need similar information for your own website you can use their free cookie audit tool.

Gatewrights’ Privacy Policy

Our Commitment To Your Privacy

Gatewrights is committed to keeping your data safe whether you purchase online, over the phone, or face-to-face. This policy outlines our methods for storing and using your payment information and personal details.

Online Orders

If you use our website to pay for your goods online then you’ll be directed to two places to enter your personal information. We use RomanCart as a secure checkout solution that is trusted by thousands of companies to process online orders and customer information. Once you have added your items to your shopping cart at www.gatewrights.co.uk and have clicked ‘view basket’ or ‘checkout’ you’ll be taken to RomanCart’s secure server to enter your Name, Address, and Contact Details. This is an encrypted connection so your data is protected from hackers in compliance with SSL Security Standards. Once you’ve entered your personal details you’ll be forwarded to our payment processing agent (PayPal). They will take your payment details and process the payment for your order. The connection to the payment gateway is also encrypted for security so you can shop with confidence. With online orders, we never get to see your payment details, only your name, address, and contact information.

Telephone Orders

If you choose to order by telephone then we will take down your order details, and you name, address, and contact information. We will also write down your payment information on paper. This will be used to process your payment after the call has terminated on a ‘Point Of Sale’ card terminal. Immediately after the payment is taken, the payment details are ‘cross-cut’ shredded. These shreddings are regularly burned safely on-site to ensure they are irrecoverable. Our sales staff are carefully chosen and trusted individuals and are diligent with this task.

Face-To-Face Transactions

When purchasing items at our premises, payments by card are done through our authorised POS Chip ‘n Pin terminal. Our staff make a point of looking away during the pin entry stage and there are no video cameras in the payment room. Invoices are always raised therefore we will take your name and address to add to the invoice.

Note about Telephone and Face-To-Face Transactions

As with most card terminals (POS) the merchant (seller) copy of the card receipt contains the full card number and expiry date of the customer’s card. We do not use this information, unless collecting the remainder of a deposit on an order, or in compliance with any legal requirement or police investigation.

We do not store any credit / debit card details electronically.

Data Security Applying To All Orders

We keep electronic and paper copies of invoices, quotes, credit notes, and similar documentation. These documents will contain customer’s names, addresses, telephone numbers, and email addresses. We keep these documents  as secure as possible.

Third Party Access To Customer Information (Name, Address, Telephone Number(s), Email)

For mail-order deliveries, we employ the use of couriers to deliver your goods. For obvious reasons they are given your name, address, and phone number. On occasion we will need to pass on your details to a manufacturer or distributor if they are sending you the product direct. These companies also have privacy policies in place.

We never sell or pass on your details to any other individuals or companies for marketing or sale.

If it is a legal requirement or police investigation (i.e. fraud) we will pass on information to the authorities in compliance with UK law.
